We have a soldering iron in the front electronics lab. Soldering is a crucial skill when working with any electronics project and is actually quite easy to learn.

We have a Pinecil Soldering Iron that runs off of USB-C as well as DC Power. We recommend powering off of USB-C. There is a wall adapter plugged into the power strip in the electronics lab. You may use any USB-C PD capable cable. If you cannot find one, ask a staff member.

Solder Choice

There are multiple sizes of solder hanging on the wall in Starforge. If you are doing small electronics, use the thinnest solder, this will give you the best flow and prevent you from burning out your electronics. If you are soldering thicker wires (10 AWG and larger), consider using the thicker solder.

Learn To Solder

This video is a great intro to learn most of the skills needed for soldering. These skills translate well into larger projects too.
